Take my client – Accountants Parfrey Murphy for example
I started working for them in May 2019 and they were creating 10 to 15 leads per month. They wanted to double the number of leads to 25 to 30. Anyway – within 3 months of being on the RESULTS Programme they were creating over 70 leads per month and over one new client per day.
I helped them uncover what they needed to do to improve their sales and marketing results and fast forward to today… Their main problem is having enough time to follow up on all their leads.
I’ve got another client called Tim Solway of Solways Printers
Tim told me what I already knew and that was that the print industry was on its knees and he needed help. Since then he told me that I saved his company and Tim and I have become good friends as well as being a client. Tim and I first started working together in 2011.
The print industry was in decline and he was losing £25,000 per month! When we first started working together, (Tim was very sceptical!) he just wanted to turn his business around and help everyone who works for him to keep their jobs.
Naturally, he said he had about a million ideas and projects he could try… but no money for marketing. I decided to try to keep it simple at first.
“What if you just picked up the phone and asked your clients”…
- Can you help them right now with anything?
- Do they know anyone who you could help?
I asked Tim to just try it and see what happened.
The following day he had made 10 calls, sold £8,365 worth of new orders and got 5 referrals. The referrals turned into 3 sales and the total income generated from his first day working with me was over £21,000 in new business.
Since then Tim’s company has gone from strength to strength and he is now London’s No.1 high-quality printer!
I also have a client named Cascade Events
They do marquee hire for weddings, functions etc. They joined the Results Accelerator Programme and in their first year, they increased their income to £492,000 which was up from £290,000 in the previous year. We did some great work together that led to a surprise jump in revenue.
Here’s what happened – We introduced a five-step process:
Step 1 – Their biggest problem was obscurity – No-one knew about them, no-one visited their website. They were connected to virtually no-one on social media and had no email list to speak of. This was the first thing we solved!
Step 2 – Their next biggest problem was a lack of leads – We then set about turning this problem around using PPC and Facebook ads.
Step 3 – We were creating leads, but they were not converting. Why? Because their sales system was non-existent. It could take three days for them to follow up a lead and then it was done only once and not very well! So, we sorted out their system, installed CRM software, trained their team in selling and sorted out this problem.
Step 4 – Once they got new clients onboard the next question was – How can we increase our average unit of sale? The first thing we did was to get them to increase the price of their marquee service by 25%. This made no difference to their lead conversion rate and so this grew the business by 25% over the first twelve months. Next, we asked them a very powerful question. What else can you sell? The company started to sell additional services and products into their market with great success.
Step 5 – This was all about continuation. Getting people to buy from them again and again and getting referrals from people who attended the events that they attended. Again a huge success for no marketing cost!
Simple, right? Well, sometimes simple is all you need.
I have another client who can’t be named because they sell software into the military
and so all very top secret
My client recently called me and said – “We have been following your LinkedIn marketing system since the seminar six months ago and today we just closed a deal based on what you taught us for £42,000,000 (yes £42 million). Not a bad ROI!
This idea of the ONE THING might triple your business alone, but naturally, that’s not all we advise you do. Your leads and sales could come from Google, email marketing, social media Adwords, re-marketing, referral, networking etc.

Want to know how I made a company £3,000,000 in less than 10 minutes of my time? I think I did not charge them enough…
I had a client who was spending £2,000 per month on magazine advertising. They had been doing so for six months before we met and had created the grand total of zero leads! So they had spent £12,000 and got zero back!
My advice was that we either stop this form of advertising, or we improve it. They decided I should help them to improve it. I looked at the advert and the title was the name of the company. I said, “Why are you using your company name to create leads”. They said, “To create brand awareness”. I said, “You can either create brand awareness, or we can create leads, but we can’t do both”. They settled on leads.
I spent less than ten minutes figuring out that the large piece of equipment that they sold into local authorities saved local authorities an average of 25% on recycling costs (over £150,000 per month). So, I changed the advert from the company name to…
“Local Authorities – Save 25% on Your Recycling Costs.”
We ran the advert and they went from no leads to two sales of £1.5million in six months.
These examples are my clients and I personally worked hard with each of them to get the results I’m talking about. But there’s something easy to overlook. Here it is:
EVERYTHING IS SIMPLE. Every time, I just found ONE THING at a time and focused on that!
2020 marks my 25 years of advising businesses and helping them grow. That’s 9,125 days of experience and that’s 73,000 hours… and counting.
And if there’s anything I’ve learnt, that’s had a bigger impact than everything else combined, it’s this ONE THING: Keep it simple.
Every business has one big thing that when used effectively, can cause everything to change.
If you stay focused and disciplined, and you worked on improving your sales and marketing then you might double, triple or even quadruple your business. However, finding the secret to success in marketing can be hard. Let’s face it. Most marketing does not work! It can take years of trial and error.
Hundreds of thousands if not millions of pounds are wasted on easily avoidable mistakes. The good news is, I’m going to help you to find your ONE, OR PERHAPS TWO THINGS for you!
